About the Creator & the Species
Learn about Zefy, the origins of the Solestial species, and how you can create your own Solestial while respecting the lore.
Hello! I’m Zefy, the creator of the Solestial species. Thank you for checking out the Codex and taking the time to learn about them!
I’ve been part of the furry community since November 2024, and it has been an amazing experience of creativity and expression. Around December of that year, I created my first fursona—also named Zefy. He started as what many would call a “dragon/wolf hybrid” or “drolf,” but to me, he was always something more.
Zefy’s design never really changed from the original concept: glowing soul etchings, vibrant energy, and a body that seemed to tell its own story. As I used him in content, played tabletop RPGs as him, and embodied him in VRChat, a deeper lore began to take shape around his character.
During that time, I started researching furry lore, particularly around hybrids like drolfs. I was surprised to find there wasn’t much material out there. This curiosity sparked a bigger question: Why does Zefy glow? What are these markings? My search for answers led me to create my own.
From that point, the lore evolved. I wanted Zefy to remain adaptable to interpretation because I love seeing how different artists bring him to life. This adaptability became part of the species’ DNA, eventually forming into the concept of Soulshape—the ability for Solestials to shift and express their inner soul physically without completely altering their core identity.
Rather than expand on the lack of hybrid lore, I took a bigger step: I built a new species from the ground up, inspired by Zefy but standing as something wholly unique. That’s how the Solestials were born. The lore grew, the Codex took form, and now, here we are—sharing this world with everyone who wants to explore it.

The Solestial species and its official lore are © 2025 Zefy. While the species itself is protected by copyright, it is an open creative framework. Anyone is welcome to design and develop their own Solestial characters, stories, and art. You do not need permission to create fan content or personal characters.
You may not claim to have created the Solestial species, its lore, or its official designs. Commissions, personal artwork, and small-scale personal merch (such as printing your own character on a shirt) are allowed. Commercial production or sale involving Solestials beyond personal use requires permission from Zefy.
While anyone may contribute ideas, canon decisions remain under the creator’s approval. This ensures the species stays recognizable while still encouraging personal expression.
